Golden Hill Delicates: A Secluded Peach Blossom Garden in the Heart of Beijing

A Modern Interpretation of Ancient Charm and Modern Aesthetics

Spanning an impressive 12,000 square meters, Golden Hill Delicates is designed to transport diners to a secluded peach blossom garden, reminiscent of the scenes depicted in Tao Yuanming's prose masterpiece, Peach Blossom Spring. Unlike other dining spaces, this restaurant goes beyond simply printing the "Peach Blossom Spring" on the walls. Instead, the designer has used mountains, stones, and bamboos to create shifting scenery, giving each private room its own individuality.

The design of Golden Hill Delicates reflects the essence of Suzhou and Yangzhou gardens, with a nod to the paintings of the Four Masters of Ming. Traditional elements are consciously refined, processed, abstracted, deformed, simplified, and recombined, resulting in innovative changes that honor the past while embracing the present. Calligraphy, paintings, porcelain, ornaments, and brick carvings are seamlessly integrated, showcasing the designer's mastery of both traditional and modern decorative techniques.

The layout of Golden Hill Delicates takes inspiration from the design of the Master of the Nets Garden. The complex and varied characteristics of the space are turned into advantages, with stairs and viewing lawns linking and connecting the various dining areas. The combination of reality and imagination creates a dynamic and immersive dining experience.

Golden Hill Delicates was a project that started in May 2019 in Shenzhen and was completed in September 2020 in Beijing. Throughout the design process, the designer aimed to capture the elegance, simplicity, and distinctiveness of the "Peach Blossom Spring." The result is a modern interpretation of ancient charm and modern aesthetics, allowing diners to feel the rhyme and meaning behind each element of the design.

This exceptional design has been recognized with the prestigious Bronze A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design category in 2022. This award is bestowed upon designs that exhibit outstanding creativity, resourcefulness, and technical skills. Golden Hill Delicates stands as a testament to the fusion of art, science, design, and technology, contributing to the improvement of quality of life and making the world a better place.
